police box - coffee bars #1

there's quite a few disused police boxes around Edinburgh, a few in the centre of town have been converted into coffee stalls. I've named this #1 - maybe I'll get round to photographing some of the others!

open & shut!

I've only passed by this stall in Middle Meadow Walk on a Saturday morning - it was always locked up and seemed to be abandoned - so yesterday, I was slightly taken aback to find it open for business! I know it's not much but little discoveries like this tickle me!

Abe Lincoln

Maybe not something you'd expect to find in an Edinburgh graveyard, a lifesize statue of Abraham Lincoln, but here he is in Old Calton Burial Ground just off the east end of Princes Street.

mama said

Another store, this one's in Cockburn Street, Edinburgh and one I frequent most weekends as its right next to Beyond Words, a specialist photographic bookshop - maybe the only one in the UK - must photograph it sometime! Anyway, back to Mama Said, if was once a clothes shop and then changed hands and became a grocery/convenience store and they just stayed with the name.

come hell or high water

Playing the tourist in Newcastle I came across this piece of art by Michael Pinsky called Come Hell of High Water. In a way it reminded me of
Cadillac Ranch , well they both contain cars!
